Buyer's guide

Occupancy or vacancy?

Occupancy mode turns lights on when you walk in and off when you leave. Vacancy mode only turns them off, so you switch them on yourself, which suits bedrooms.

Does it work without the bridge?

It pairs straight to Caseta dimmers and switches without a bridge. With the bridge you can use it in the Lutron app and other automations.

How long do the batteries last?

Most battery sensors on these lists are rated for one to three years, depending on how often they report. Low-power radios like Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Thread last much longer than Wi-Fi.
