GD00Z-8-GC: Z-Wave Plus S2 Security, Black, Small

4.0 266 reviews · $84.99

The title names a Z-Wave garage controller, but the only product detail tells you to measure your door's backset and cross bore, which is how you size a door lock. Buy the GD00Z-7 listing above instead.

Why we'd skip it

  • Title: "GD00Z-8-GC: Z-Wave Plus S2 Security, Black, Small."
  • Bullet: "Measure your door's backset, cross bore and thickness to ensure you find the right fit."
  • Sold by a reseller, with 16 left at capture time.

Buyer's guide

Will it work with my garage door opener?

Most controllers wire to the opener's wall-button terminals, which works with almost any opener with a standard push button. Newer openers with encrypted wall buttons may need an adapter; check the listing.

Is it safe to close the door remotely?

Good controllers flash and beep before closing, as UL 325 requires, and use a tilt sensor to confirm the door's position. Never close a door you can't see without that warning.

Does it need a hub?

Z-Wave controllers need a Z-Wave hub. Matter controllers work with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, and Home Assistant.
