Buyer's guide

What does a multisensor measure?

Usually motion plus temperature, humidity, and light, and sometimes vibration or UV. One device covers a room's automations: lights on motion, fans on humidity, blinds on light.

Battery or USB power?

USB-powered multisensors report more often and act as repeaters. Battery ones go anywhere but check in less often.

How long do the batteries last?

Most battery sensors on these lists are rated for one to three years, depending on how often they report. Low-power radios like Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Thread last much longer than Wi-Fi.
